Berwick Academy’s dance program is offered to grades K-12, with classes in ballet, modern, hip-hop, acro, contemporary, tap, jazz, and companies. We currently have openings in our Hip-Hop/Contemporary and Lyrical offerings on Tuesdays and our Modern/Ballet and Acro classes on Fridays. There is also the potential to choreograph additional material on our Middle School and Upper School companies.

Responsibilities include:
• Teach technique and choreography in specific styles to all levels, beginner through advanced.
• Mentor students for auditions, choreography projects or senior concert
• Choreograph yearly dance concert and other events upon request of Dance Department Chair
• Complete quarterly summative assessments of students' participation and progress.
• Communicate with Director of Dance on a regular basis regarding student progress in writing and in person.
• Share responsibility with other dance faculty in departmental administrative duties such as supervising students in field trips or rehearsing their own work.
• Attend department meetings approximately once/trimester (meetings will occur during regularly scheduled days)
• Participate in audition workshops for applicants, as well as auditions and call back.
• Participate in school community events.
• Participate in Pre-Production and Production weeks as needed, leading to performances on May 17th and 18th.

Qualifications:
• A strong background in modern dance and contemporary styles of dance.
• Three years teaching experience.
• A team player who can collaborate with the department chair and other dance faculty in building a culture of seriousness and professionalism in the department.
• Self-motivated and ability to take responsibility.
• Commitment to the arts as an important element in a complete education.
• Commitment to cultural, ethnic and linguistic diversity as a significant element in a complete education.
