Description

Berwick Academy seeks a college counselor to join a well-established, fast-paced office.  Ideal candidates will have a minimum of five years of experience in college counseling and/or college admissions. Strong time management and excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.  The position requires an organized, flexible and creative approach to working with students and parents.   

Responsibilities include:

  • Working with approximately 20 students and their families each year to guide them through the search and application process;

  • Writing a personal recommendation for each student;

  • Educating students and families on the college process including interviews, essay writing, and financial aid;

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with college admission professionals;

  • Visiting college and university campuses regularly;

  • Attending professional conferences and maintaining current knowledge of important issues and trends in college admissions;

  • Assisting in the organization and execution of evening information sessions for students and parents;

  • Collaborating closely with teachers, coaches, and advisors to support the student’s college process.

Depending on the candidate’s skill set, there may be other opportunities to participate in school life in some capacity which might include teaching, coaching, advising, or other roles.
