Assistant Director of Admission

Berwick Academy seeks an Assistant Director of Admission who will report directly to the Director of Enrollment Management and will work collaboratively with the admission team to fulfill the enrollment targets of the school.  Specific responsibilities include:

  • Manage Upper School Admission, to include:
    • Recruit, cultivate, interview and manage upper school candidates and their families through the admission process
    • Manage Tour Guide Program, including selection of Head Tour Guides and training of tour guides
    • Represent Berwick at school fairs
    • Develop relationships with feeder schools, consultants, and other key influencers
    • Serve as liaison to athletics, arts and innovation departments to ensure candidates are connected to coaches, performing and visual arts faculty, and innovation students; and to ensure athletic and artistic needs are represented in admission committee meetings
    • Serve on the Upper School Admission Committee, reading and evaluating applications, and organizing and preparing for committee meetings
    • Develop and manage yield strategy and tactics
    • Collaborate with the Director of the Upper School and Deans to support retention efforts
    • Attend Upper School Faculty meetings
    • Contribute to the Upper School community as an advisor, coach and/or teacher

 

  • Manage all Admission events, including monthly Berwick in Action, Revisit Day, Step-Up Night, Off-Campus Receptions/Events and New Parent Orientation
  • Collaborate with middle and upper school deans to organize the plan for transition of students and their families from the middle to upper school (through communication, step-up visit days, exposure to clubs, athletics, arts, Step-Up Night and other initiatives)
  • Perform special projects as assigned, which may include market research, competitor analysis, survey design and implementation, and website enhancements
  • Collaborate with Admission Team and Director of Communications to develop and execute branding, marketing strategies and tactics, and social media campaigns
  • Support lower and middle school admission efforts as needed

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Minimum of 3 years of admission experience in an independent school
  • Ability to contribute to the Upper School as an advisor, coach and/or teacher
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Technical savvy and comfort with Google and social media platforms, and an admission database
  • Ability to connect with and inspire prospective students and their families
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Flexibility, self-initiative, innovative spirit, sense of humor, and ability to work effectively with a team in a fast-paced environment
