Counselor Roles & Responsibilities
Lead Camp Counselors
Lead Counselors are the primary leaders for a group of campers and may also teach enrichment activities. Responsibilities include:

Leading structured daily activities with confidence

Implementing engaging curriculum and activity plans

Modeling effective behavior management strategies
-
Communicating clearly with campers, families, and fellow staff

Promoting a fun, inclusive, and safe camp culture
Ideal candidates have experience in camps, classrooms, or group child settings.
Assistant Camp Counselors
Assistant Counselors support the Lead Counselors to ensure smooth daily operations. Responsibilities include:

Helping supervise campers and provide general care

Assisting with activities, transitions, and setup/cleanup
-
Fostering a positive environment for all campers
-
Being a kind, reliable, and enthusiastic presence

Additional Opportunities

AfterCare (3:00–5:00 PM): Additional hours and responsibility—indicate interest when applying.

Busing Help Needed (AM & PM): We are also hiring responsible individuals to assist with our bus routes on our mini-transit from Berwick Academy to Exeter, Portsmouth, Kittery, and York. This requires a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and completion of a training class. Compensation is increased for driving roles. Please indicate interest in this role when applying.
Qualifications

Must be at least 16 years old by June 10, 2025

Demonstrated interest in working with children; prior experience preferred

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Enthusiastic, reliable, and adaptable

Comfortable working outdoors and fully participating in camp life

Available for multiple weeks during the camp season
